Taipei, Taiwan (AHN) - Taiwanese researchers have developed a chemical compound that can destroy the surface of some flu viruses, including influenza A (H1N1).
The NTU-VirusBom compound named after the National Taiwan University, where the researchers come from, has the potential to control the swine flu pandemic, which has killed 700 people worldwide.
The compound was also found to be effective in containing Enetrovirus 71 and Staphylococcus aureus, which cause nosocomial infection.
The NTU-VirusBorn can be mixed with disinfectants and the researchers are working to mass produce the compound by September.
